No one said that all commercial buildings have to look the same. So why is it that you can identify a building usually just from the envelope that wraps it. Instead I wanted the function on the inside of my building to help dictate what the people on the outside of the building see. This fenestration has layers of patterns that vary in height, length and density in order to help convey the information on the inside of the building to the outside. The building is located in downtown Syracuse New York, with the harsh humidity in the summer and the arctic winters, I came up with a balance of direct light to allow the building to breath during the summer and insulate during the winter.

We are living in a world that is rapidly moving towards new technological advances, but the value of analogue is still just as important. The physical book allows the reader to embark on a journey where the brain per- ceives mental representations of the text creating physical landscapes. Our library, Digi-theque is about enhancing the readers’ experience. To do so the library incorporates designated spaces stimulating the readers digitally to enhance their environment. This provides an opportunity for ordinary people to translate a piece of literature into a digital space allowing one to create and let others experience it. The library is the only centralized location where new and emerging information technologies can be combined with tradi- tional knowledge resources in an interactive environ- ment that supports today’s social and educational patterns of learning.

Synthesized Housing incorporates the functional behavior of the living requirements and the more arbitrary nature of the social zones. These areas are created through the network of structure that intersects with each other to create an interactive nucleus. The living area is held up by the light stricture to allow for a continuous flow from the front and rear entrances of the building. This enables residents and the public to enjoy access to the socially active alley behind the building.
If you ask any architect, what is a challenging part of design, one of the issues will most likely be the connection of two architectural elements. I came up with a formula that help smooths out that process. The knuckle of the project holds a lot of potential for attributes such as: program, material or circulation to come together and interact.
Up-Offices is a wood based structured mid rise building in the Arts District of LA. Up-Offices revitalizes all of these attributes through: public ground-level park and shading from the offices above. All of the vertical load is picked up by the three main CLT shear wall panels that anchor to the ground. The vertical columns inside the building also help distribute the load onto a “structure floor” that collects the remaining vertical forces.
There is a moment in any project that becomes an intersection between two or more elements, I wanted this moment or ’C’ to be occupiable. C spreads through the project and is not just contained where the intersection happens either. The project has multiple opportunities for a myriad of programs spread within. Each program has its own form of identification: Skeleton, Burden, Growth, Exposure, and Seclusion, that will demand for C to change as it works its way through the building.
